Name: | Carlotta Brown |
---|
Living in Britain, half-Spanish, raised in a circus and with a scorching hot temper, Carlotta Brown doesn't think she'll ever be able to settle down in a boarding school. But after recently being reunited with her natural father, she's not really in a position to object.
Just because she would rather be riding a horse than learning French, doesn't mean she's not going to at least try and get along. And most of the other girls don't seem too bad, once she gets to know them.
Carlotta is outspoken, and (in 1940s middle class terms) has poor manners. When antagonised she wants to stamp her foot, shouts insults, pulls rude faces and generally behave in a rather childish manner. However now she is in the second form she has had to learn to reign in her temper. For those she likes, she will do almost anything, within reason.
Doesn't mean if you really piss her off you won't still get slapped though.
---
Carlotta is mixed race (British/Spanish), with black curly (often messy) hair and dark brown eyes. She first appears in the third St Clare's book, and is now out of canon. She married the local stable-owner's son, William Francis, the day before he set off to war. She now alternates between life in the circus and life at her in-laws' stables. They have one daughter, Molly, born November 1948. (SEE BELOW FOR POST REBOOT)
World war 2 was delayed due to canon inconsistancies; in this world it finished in Spring 1949.
She is baseline human, of average intelligence (mediocre academic, high common sense) and no funky powers.
---
2018 REBOOT
Carlotta re-enters the bar in 1959 and a few things have changed.
She is in her early thirties, and single-handedly owner and Ringmaster of a new circus known as the Fiery Ring Circus. Her daughter Molly is eleven. She has a younger son, Bobbie, who is eight. Physically she looks very similar to how she did in her youth; her knee sustained some lasting damage from the war injury but the limp has gone in all but the coldest weather. She is fully capable of performing acrobatics, but usually does this in teaching rather than performing, as her role as Ringmaster takes up more of her time.
She separated from Will the year after Bobbie was born, after it transpired that he had been cheating on her a third time. She built up enough evidence to get a divorce, and while Will continues to faithfully pay his maintenance, he moved away and hasn't visited the children since.
Despite this, Carlotta and her children continue to have contact with Will's parents and sister at their stables. Will's cousin Fern, who was also living at the Oaks and whose son was suspected to be Will's, has married and moved away, to the great relief of many.
Carlotta's own father and grandmother are both deceased. Although they lost both their home and their business in the Blitz, they left Carlotta with a reasonable sum in savings, which she has put by for the children's education. Her uncle Michael remains alive and well, along with her cousins Violet and Marigold. Her older cousin Violet succeeded in getting into the England Women's Cricket Team. Marigold is working as a school teacher.
At present, Molly and Bobbie are home schooled in the circus, but it is planned that Molly will start St Clare's, like her mother, in September, and Bobbie will have the opportunity of a similar school that admits boys.
Orion, the horse she gained from Teja, is alive and well, but now pulls the caravan rather than performing. Molly performs as an acrobat, and Bobbie performs with a trained dog, Rufus.
Canon note: Carlotta is a less conventional Blyton character (and a good one), and therefore is not likely to go in for stereotyping or generally not cool unPC stuff, nor is her mun. Blyton however was writing before the age of political correctness.
Likewise my description/playing of Carlotta does not reflect any perceived stereotypes of the Spanish on my part.
Carlotta Brown is from the St Clare's series (books 3 onwards, out of canon now), and is the property of Enid Blyton. She appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in , from which no profit whatsoever is being made.

old_school_ties
Carlotta will enter at the point where she would otherwise start at St Clare's, which means she's fourteen and hasn't been licked into shape 1940s style. She has a tennis racket and a lacrosse stick, which she's not afraid to use.
She has the same basic characteristics as above; hot tempered, bad-mannered but with a strong sense of personal honour - she will insult people and cause mischief readily but dislikes lying, cheating, stealing or anything really spiteful. Well, so far anyway, a bad influence may be able to persuade her if it's in a good cause.
Carlotta has no interest in sex and will most likely ignore or laugh off any serious attempts at romance until she is older.
All other information is as above.
